Athesan Guna

Investment Director

Athesan joined Phi in October 2019 as Investment Director and a member of the Board. He previously worked in a similar capacity within the social investments arena, helping reach c. £300 million of private equity capital deployed within the UK’s specialist supported housing sector. Having worked with Ryan and Omar since early 2017, he has now joined them on their journey at Phi Capital.

Athesan has spent his career directly investing in UK real estate and private equity businesses. He brings a broad investor skillset to the team across deal origination, capital sourcing, transaction management, debt management, management transition, portfolio and exit planning. Having worked at MAC Partners, GI Partners and European Capital across residential, healthcare, student housing, technology and energy sectors, Athesan has direct investment management experience across multiple sectors.

Athesan began his career with a 4 year stint in investment banking, advising UK-listed and private equity clients from the M&A departments of Greenhill and Merrill Lynch in London.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Economics from the London School of Economics and attended the Wharton Business School’s Summer mini-MBA Programme during his Associate training at Merrill Lynch.

In his spare time, Athesan enjoys completing his never-ending list of home DIY projects, spending time with his young children and being right. An avid socialiser, he enjoys both single malt whiskies and fresh fruit smoothies (but never together).
